CISCOPE DISTRIBUTES COWPEA TO FARMERS IN ADAMAWA AND YOBE STATES

After the distribution of maize and vegetable seeds and fertilizer to farmers in Adamawa and Yobe states at the beginning of the 2017 rainy season, CISCOPE with the support of FAO have distributed cowpea to farmers in communities in the above mentioned states.

This distribution is still captured under the rainy season agricultural inputs distribution program championed by FAO. With regards to distribution of farm inputs, CISCOPE is very keen on sticking strictly to the farming calendar, Cowpea does not usually require much rain to do well, so it is usually recommended that it be planted towards the end of the rainy season, that is one of the reasons the distribution was done at the time, so the timing is still in order and farmers are happy with the schedule. So as they were harvesting their maize and vegetables, the cowpea seeds came in handy.

However, in light of some more cheering news, in a bid to cover every inch of the entire farming circle, therecowpea 1 are hopes that farmers in these areas would benefit from the dry season farming support initiative when the program hits the ground.
